The Bank of England cuts UK interest rates to 4.25%

The Bank of England has cut interest rates by 25 basis points, bringing the base rate to 4.25%.

Inflation was also lower than expected in March at 2.6%, down from 2.8% the previous month, creating a window of opportunity for the UK central bank to lower borrowing costs

It is being widely reported that we may well see up to three more cuts in 2025 which could result in a base rate of 3.5% by the end of the year.

James Kirk, Managing Director comments '' The housing market in particular certainly needs stimulus right now and whilst we were hopeful for a 0.5% reduction at least the BoE have decided to 'cut' rather than 'hold'.

'We hope that further cuts are applied when the BoE meet on 19th June 2025'
